Tech talk - what all the numbers mean

About Bushnell Powerview Mid-size 10 x 32 Binoculars: • BaK-7 prisms for bright, clear, crisp viewing • Multi-coated optics for superior light transmission • Non-slip rubber armor absorbs shock while providing a firm grip • Twist-up eyecups • Large center focus knob for easy, precise adjustments • Longer eye relief We we say about these binoculars: These are the best entry level binoculars on the market. Please do not waste your time buying small pockets binoculars, or big, overweight Porro Prism binoculars that have inferior lens coating and build quality. These have the look, feel, and optical performance of more expensive pairs of binoculars, and we strongly feel are the best entry level value for money binoculars available. Features that are important for enhancing your safari viewing include: multi-coated lenses for superior light transmission (particularly important in the early mornings and late afternoons on safari); Good field of view of 293 ft at 1,000 ft (this means that while you have bought the subject 10 times closer, you still enjoy good peripheral vision - so important when following moving animals); close focus of 11 foot (while binoculars have the obvious advantage of bringing distant subjects into view, it is while viewing wildlife at close quarters that the magnification allows you to see incredible detail and really appreciate the animal/bird you are viewing); Good eye relief of 15,5mm (this means that you are able to hold the binoculars 15,5mm away from your eyes and still see the full field of view - which is very important in ensuring that your eyes do not tire when watching prolonged hunts, or while trying to identify a particular species - you therefore do not need to feel as though your binoculars are glued to your face); twist-up eyecups (far more comfortable than fold-down eyecups, and last longer too). If you are travelling during the rainy season in Africa (ask us if unsure), then please note that the only downside to these binoculars is the fact that they are not nitrogen filled, and are not fog or water proof. For waterproof, nitrogen-filled and o-ring sealed binoculars please see the H20 range.
